my heart

my heart

one moment, one look, one tainted disregard lights the match

my heart transforms from a black lump to a fire cold-people sit around to get warm

my heart is haunted by the remnants of love left on your hands as dust

a reminder of the fire you ignited

and the flames you extinguished

my heart

my heart, my foolish heart, believes that one-day burning will be beautiful

my heart believes that every flicker of red, yellow and orange won’t be warning signs but rather a kaleidoscope of purpose and fulfilment

my heart

my heart

my heart

my heart will burn again, like a phoenix from the ashes

my heart will embrace the chaos of flames and fury
